Animal Trades offers professional author outreach programming for elementary-aged learners, focused on early literacy, community awareness, and introductory career exploration through storytelling. Programs are led by Steve McKeown, creator of the Animal Trades book series and a Master Electrician, and are designed for schools, school boards, libraries, and community organizations serving students in Kindergarten through Grade 4.
Each program combines interactive author readings with guided discussion and age-appropriate engagement. Sessions can be delivered in classrooms, assemblies, libraries, or as part of multi-session school visits. Students may engage with Animal Trades books, stickers, and interactive materials that reinforce learning through storytelling.
Programs support literacy development, oral communication, and social-emotional learning while introducing students to how communities are built and maintained. Discussion highlights problem-solving, collaboration, safety, and creativity in ways that align with early learning and elementary curriculum expectations.
Animal Trades programming uses participatory activities tailored to the age group and setting. Skilled trades are presented as inclusive, modern, and accessible to all students, encouraging curiosity and confidence without promoting early career decision-making.
Programs are designed for Kindergarten to Grade 4, with sessions typically lasting 20 to 45 minutes. Delivery formats include classroom sessions, assemblies, rotating group programming, and half-day or full-day visits. Programming is scalable for individual classes or full-school participation and can be delivered in schools, libraries, and community settings.
Author outreach programs are offered as fee-based professional services. Pricing is custom-quoted based on program scope, session length, group size, location, travel, and customization requirements. Written quotes, invoices suitable for public-sector procurement, and vendor documentation are available upon request.
